The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 4.88% percent.  All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Cherokee County Administration Building and Conference Center, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton at the indicated times:  July 5, 2016 at 6:00PM, July 19, 2016 at 6:00 PM; and July 21, 2016 at  6:00 PM....

The County Clerk is the official custodian of records for all actions taken by the Board of Commissioners. Responsibilities include preparing and publishing agendas, preparing minutes and information for the board meetings,  distributing and publishing the board minutes, and maintenance of the records; official custodian of County contracts, leases, resolutions, and ordinances. The County Clerk is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serves at their pleasure.

  • Attends all Commission meetings; Prepares, posts and distributes agendas prior to meetings; Prepares, posts and distributes Commission Meeting Minutes
  • Maintains and ensures Codification of Ordinances and Resolutions
  • Oversees execution of contracts and agreements approved by the Board
  • Acts as fiscal agent
  • Ensures all requirements of "Open Meetings and Open Records Act" are followed
  • Serves as Records Custodian for Board of Commissioners
  • Oversees execution all official documents and distributes to appropriate personnel
  • Provides requested information and/or documents to Board of Commissioners, elected officials, agency and department heads, the media and the general public
  • Serves as County's Records Rentention Officer
  • Maintains Cherokee County's Boards and Authorities Lists
