The County Clerk is the official custodian of records for all actions taken by the Board of Commissioners, to include preparing and publishing agendas, preparing minutes and information for the board meetings,  distributing and publishing the board minutes, and maintenance of the records. The County Clerk is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serves at their pleasure.

Respsonsibilities Include:

  • Commission meetings: Prepares, publishes and distributes meeting Agendas, Materials and Minutes
  • Georgia's Open Meetings/Open Records Act Compliance
  • Codification of Ordinances and Resolutions
  • Oversees execution of contracts and agreements approved by the Board of Commissioners
  • Acts as fiscal agent
  • Provides requested information and documents to Board of Commissioners, elected officials, agency and department heads, the media and the general public
  • Serves as County's Records Rentention Officer, ensuring requirements of Georgia's Record Retention Schedules are followed
  • Maintains Cherokee County's Boards and Authorities Lists
