Filming Permit Request
Cherokee County offers a lot of opportunities for the filming industry.
Whether you are interested in scouting, permitting, or filming in Cherokee County, the first step is to contact our Cherokee Office of Economic Development. There you will find the contact information for our Camera Ready Liaison, Molly Mercer.
Please contact her first as she will guide you on the permit process.
If a permit is to be requested, please see list below for items needed. The permit has several departments that will need to review and approve it, so the earlier we can get this application, the faster we can process the permit. Please submit applications to us no later than 2 weeks prior to filming event. If you are needing road closures, this must be permitted at least 2 weeks in advance to give adequate public notification time.
The fee for the permit is $50.
- Certificate of Insurance with general liability coverage limits of not less than one million dollars($1,000,000.00) per occurrence with said coverage listing Cherokee County, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton, GA 30114 as an additional insured. County reserves the right, at County's sole discretion, to request additional insurance coverage amounts should the Project include activities/actions that the County deems to be higher risk.
- A site map of each location requested for filming, with parking plan, and layout of production needs. Please especially note roads, parks, sidewalks, and requested closure locations.
- Projected schedule of production dates (to include set up, filming, and take down) for locations requested
- If requesting use of County property (i.e. county parks, buildings, etc.) please have approval or contract for said use with application process. (this will be something that the Cherokee Office of Economic Development will guide you on.)
