Manager Bio

Susan Filiberto is the CDBG Manager for the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners.  She has worked for the BOC for over 15 years, in various positions.  Susan serves her community both professionally and in her volunteer work.

Susan is a native of Long Island, New York and has lived and worked in Cherokee County for over 30 years.  She received her BA from C.W. Post College with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology.  Susan started her career as a Juvenile Probation/Parole Officer and then worked for Cherokee County BOC Juvenile Court as a Program Manager, writing grants, and helping juveniles and families with rehabilitation and reunification.  Susan then worked in the non-profit sector writing and implementing grants, managing capital campaigns, and serving as executive directors for major non-profits.  Susan then returned to Cherokee County BOC and implemented and managed the Victim Advocate Program at the Sheriff’s Office for five years before taking the role of Fire & Life Safety Educator.  Throughout her years working in the community, she always had a passion for grant writing and in November of 2022, she was given the newly created position of Grant Writer.

Susan and her husband Bob raised their two children in the Towne Lake community and now reside in Canton.  She is the proud grandmother of Amelia and William and when she is not spending time with family, she is busy knitting, crocheting, quilting, or spending time with her friends.
