Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency will host its 17th annual 5K Run/Walk on February 11th, 2023 at Hobgood Park in Woodstock, GA. The purpose of the run is to raise money for charity causes selected by both groups, Guns & Hoses. The charity for Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is Sheriff Frank Reynolds Charities which is dedicated to raising money through events and fundraising to help fulfill the needs of the people of Cherokee County and assist other charitable organizations who support our community. The charity for the Cherokee County Fire Department is The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch which is a non-profit home serving young men in the state foster care system. When registering, the runner selected the team that they wanted to represent and a portion of their fee went towards their chosen charity. Register at Playcherokee.org.

Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services Education Department is pleased to offer Fire Safety for Caregivers Courses every other month free of charge.
This is a required course by the Insurance & Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office for all caregivers in the following facilities:
- Day Care Centers
- Group Day Care Homes
- Group I-1 and Group I-4 assisted living communities, assisted living facilities, community living arrangements, memory care units, personal care homes and residential board and care homes
(Administrators, Directors, Operators and Staff)
The certification is recorded on the State level and is good for 3 years.
Due to COVID19 social distancing requirements, we are keeping class sizes small. Please arrive on time. Please contact our office within 48 hours if you will be unable to attend. All No-shows will be charged $25.
